Ranni Perunad Grama Panchayat, located in the Pathanamthitta district, is renowned for its natural beauty and rich biodiversity. Situated in the Ranni Taluk of Pathanamthitta district, the Panchayat stretches across the foothills of the eastern mountain ranges and extensive forest areas. Bordering the state boundary, this region is recognized as one of the most scenic landscapes of the Western Ghats.

As a predominantly hilly region, the Panchayat enjoys a cool climate and receives abundant rainfall throughout the year. Agriculture is the primary source of livelihood for the residents of Ranni Perunad Panchayat. Numerous small rivers and streams enrich the area's water resources. Dense forests, hills, and valleys further enhance the geographical beauty and ecological significance of the Panchayat.

A major portion of the Panchayat falls within the Sabarimala forest region, which forms part of the Periyar Tiger Reserve. Out of the Panchayat’s total 16 wards, 11 wards are located in the Perunad area, while the remaining 5 wards are situated in the Pampavali area.
