Perunad: A Land of Ancient Glory and Historical Significance Perunad is a region rich in ancient heritage and historical importance. Several legends associated with the Ramayana are deeply rooted in the local traditions of the area. According to these legends, Lord Rama and Lakshmana arrived at the hermitage of Shabari while searching for Sita, and later proceeded to Kishkindha. It is believed that the name Perunad originated from the term “Perutha Nadu” (meaning “vast land”), which Sita is said to have used to describe this extensive region.
